This is not a discussion on getting the look and feel you want for your WEB APP or CART APP.
Nor is it to persuade you of the benefits of offering online ordering.
It doesn’t even look at how you achieve this – landing page, existing web site with an <order now> call to action, a queue jumping QR code on you menus and advertising, …
A discussion on your goals for going on line and the individual settings are covered in WEB APP / Landing Page / Shopping Cart Settings.
This article is purely about how to use the eCART component.
I will be using my demo system for this, so it could look very different to your real world eCART.
Appearing across the top of the screen is a banner / header providing key information to your customer.
Your Company Logo : as defined in BOM / Settings / Web Site / General.
Your Company Phone Number : as defined in BOM / Settings / Storecard or as overwritten in BOM / Settings / Web Site / General.
Your Customers Shopping Cart : this is initially empty, but returning customers may see an “abandoned” cart from their last visit.
Log In Icon : this will look like a door with an entering arrow indicating that nobody is logged in.
Logged In Icon : when a CUSTOMER is already logged in, this will appear as a person icon. Select this icon to view the logged in users profile. More on this below.
A free text area that can be used by your customer to find partial text matches against ITEM NAMES.
By default this is in the left hand pane.
Note that a MENU CATEGORY with no active MENU ITEMS will not be shown.
Usually in the central pane. Will show the MENU ITEMS assigned to the chosen MENU CATEGORY.
The far right hand pane. This will change according to he input required from your CUSTOMER.
Browse Categories & Items
Select an available CATEGORY from the left hand pane.
Available ITEMS will appear in the central pane.
One or more images should be available, along with a fantastic description about the ITEM. If you have defined any PROMOTIONS or calorific information, these will also be available.
Your provided description may be truncated, but clicking on the image will open a pop up box.
Search a Product
Located below your logo and above available CATEGORIES is a search box.
Enter some text and any available partial matches will be shown in the centre pane.
Add Items to the Cart
Select the <add to cart> icon.
Note that the banner eCART will change to reflect the dollars and items in the cart that are now added to the right hand pane.
To add multiples of the same ITEM, you can click <add to cart> in the centre pane multiple times or change the quantity in your cart in the right hand pane with + / –
Where you have defined RELATED MODIFIERS and COMMON MODIFIERS these will also be offered. If any of these are set by QUANTITY or have been made COMPULSORY, your customer will need to add the required MODIFIER to their eCART.
eCART – Modify, Clear or Continue
The right hand pane will continually update as you make selections.
Note that you can delete an item from the cart or directly increase / decrease the quantity on order. You can also use <clear> to remove everything from your eCART.
Once you are happy with the contents of your eCART, you may select <Continue>.
You will either be asked to log in or register a user login before accessing <checkout>.
Create a User Login
To be able to process an ORDER, you need some basic information about your CUSTOMER.
There are 3 required fields :
- First Name
- Phone Number without the leading “0” ( This should be mobile as your Customer will need to enter an the code provided by SMS ).
Enter the required detail and click <Register>.
Enter the 6 digit code from the SMS and click <Confirm>.
Existing User Log In
Enter the mobile phone number you used to create your user logon ( minus the leading “0” ) and select <Continue>.
Enter yous chosen password and select <Log In>.
If you have forgotten your password you may select <Forgotten password> and <get Code> to set a new one.
Log In Using FaceBook
Your customer may also log in using FaceBook.
Select Delivery Method
Depending on the Service Types you have enabled in your BOM / Store Card, your customer will be asked for how they would like to get their order :
- Take Out
- Dine In
Depending on the choice, your customer may be asked to select a Delivery Address, Table, or Time. Please remember that times can alter depending on things like Time Slots ; Automatically Provide Customers Time to Ready Feedback.
Select Payment Method
Depending on the options you have enabled in your BOM / Store Card :
- Cash On Site / Pay Later
- Card On Site / Pay Later
- Online / New Card / Pay Now
The On Site options are also used for Delivery Orders, in which case we would usually force “Change Required From” option to be set in BOM.
Once your customer has reviewed their ORDER they can <Confirm> to send their ORDER to your STORE for processing.
Your customer can monitor the STATUS changes using the eCART PROFILE tab.
